Bank employees all over India have decided to go on strike on June 12th for various demands. This strike comes in wake of the failure of talks between the banking unions and Indian Banks Association(IBA) that took place on Thursday.
The strike has been called by United Forum of Bank Unions, which constitutes nine other unions. The main concerns voiced by the unions are wage revisions, pension scheme and to prevent staff outsourcing.Although the demand of employees expecting a further increase in wages has been a concern for a long time, the pension option is pressed during the recent talks.
Employees of bank were given the option to have provident fund or pension. Those who chose PF are seeking another chance to return to pension option, which the IBA has not given a go signal. The other important demand is to stop outsourcing of staff in the public sector banks, which has gained importance during the recent years. There were demonstrations by separate bank unions against outsourcing, that is feared to provoke job losses. But now,UFBU has also taken it as one of its demands to the IBA.
So,with the new government in place, employees hope to seek light on June 12th.
