Although banks are said to be more interested in appointing officers with specialized knowledge than generalists, the number of vacancies created in previous years for such people were only low.

What is IBPS SO V Exam?

The IBPS SO 2015 – 16 or Specialist Officer recruitment is currently being conducted for the 5th consecutive year & that is the reason why you see the letter ‘V’ being mentioned in the notice. Click here for exam process & books list


The posts available for qualifiers of this selection process are:

Successful candidates will get posted as specialist officers in any of the 18 participating govt banks across India.

Online Registrations/ Applications from November 23 to December 10, 2015

Date of written exam (online) – January 30, 31 2016


Interviews to be held in March 2016

Final allotments shall be completed in April 2016


Who are Eligible?

The eligibility criteria for registrants to fulfill for this IBPS SPL V are listed below for each discipline.Read them carefully as you wont be allowed to apply if you don’t posses any one.

  • Age should be 20 - 30 years as on Nov 1, 2015 (add +3 yrs for OBC, +5yrs for SC/ST, +10yrs for PWD)
  • Must have completed graduation as on December 10, 2015 in any of the following streams:
I.T.Officer 4 year BE/ Btech in UG or PG in IT/ Computer science/ Computer applications/ Electronics/ ECE/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication OR

Any degree with DOEACC level ‘B’ certificate.
Agriculture field officer 4 yr Degree in agriculture OR subjects related to agri. sciences such as Horticulture, Veterinary Science, Pisciculture
HR/ Personnel officer Any UG degree & PG in Personnel management/ Industrial relations/ HR/ Social work/ Labour law
Marketing officer Any UG degree & 2 yr MBA/ MMS (marketing)/ PGDBA/ PGDBM  with marketing specialization
Law Officer Degree in Law (LLB) & enrolled as advocate in Bar council


* Except those who are applying for IT officer, applicants registering for other post should have studied computers/ IT as a subject in high school/ college or any institute & hold a degree/ diploma or certificate.


There are no Scale II or III exams in this year`s recruitment.ou

Testing Methods

IBPS had taken the online route for PO & clerical CWEs. Similarly specialist officer examination would also be a computer based test.


But it will have main examination only.So you need not worry about the prelims.

  • Online written exam to be conducted at various centres in India in January 2016
  • 200 objective questions for a total of 200 marks & duration of 120 minutes. 

A paper/ section on ‘Professional Knowledge’ for 75 marks would have questions from the subject related to the post you apply (Agriculture for agri field officers, Computers & IT for IT officer, Marketing for marketing officer etc.,).

Eventhough you are eligible for all positions, application must be submitted for any one post.Fee of Rs.100 (SC/ST) or Rs.600 (others) must be paid between Nov 23 – Dec 10 via

Online – through netbanking, credit/ debit cards.The facility is made available at the IBPS website itself.

As proof of successful payment do not forget to print the e-receipt after funds transfer.These original receipts should be handed over at the exam venue.

  • After collecting the necessary details, proceed to submit the online  application form given at www.ibps.in
  • If registered successfully, you will receive an email or sms with a reg. number & password that must be noted to download or print call letters in future.

Candidates are required to produce their documents & certificates at the time of Interview.Therefore make sure to specify your details correctly in the online application form.
