The IBPS SO a.k.a IBPS Specialist Officer Exam 2016 for recruitment of specialist officer vacancies in public sector banks has been announced.Since the notification is being released in November, joining/allotments will happen in 2016 – 2017.
Although banks are said to be more interested in appointing officers with specialized knowledge than generalists, the number of vacancies created in previous years for such people were only low.

What is IBPS SO V Exam?
The IBPS SO 2015 – 16 or Specialist Officer recruitment is currently being conducted for the 5th consecutive year & that is the reason why you see the letter ‘V’ being mentioned in the notice. Click here for exam process & books list

IBPS SO 2016 Exam Dates: It looks like the IBPS Specialist Officer exams have been postponed.The instiute was supposed to conduct the online test on January 30 & 31.
But they have issed admit cards for candidates with a new set of dates.According to it,
- IT Officer Exams on Febraury 14, 2016
- Marketing Officer Exam on February 1.
Similarly, the exams for other postitions could be rescheduled.So candidates must look at their admit cards to confirm the venue & time.
Who are Eligible?
The eligibility criteria for registrants to fulfill for this IBPS SPL V are listed below for each discipline.Read them carefully as you wont be allowed to apply if you don’t posses any one.
- Age should be 20 - 30 years as on Nov 1, 2015 (add +3 yrs for OBC, +5yrs for SC/ST, +10yrs for PWD)
- Must have completed graduation as on December 10, 2015 in any of the following streams:
|I.T.Officer||4 year BE/ Btech in UG or PG in IT/ Computer science/ Computer applications/ Electronics/ ECE/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication OR |
Any degree with DOEACC level ‘B’ certificate.
|Agriculture field officer||4 yr Degree in agriculture OR subjects related to agri. sciences such as Horticulture, Veterinary Science, Pisciculture|
|HR/ Personnel officer||Any UG degree & PG in Personnel management/ Industrial relations/ HR/ Social work/ Labour law|
|Marketing officer||Any UG degree & 2 yr MBA/ MMS (marketing)/ PGDBA/ PGDBM with marketing specialization|
|Law Officer||Degree in Law (LLB) & enrolled as advocate in Bar council|
* Except those who are applying for IT officer, applicants registering for other post should have studied computers/ IT as a subject in high school/ college or any institute & hold a degree/ diploma or certificate.
There are no Scale II or III exams in this year`s recruitment.ou

IBPS had taken the online route for PO & clerical CWEs. Similarly specialist officer examination would also be a computer based test.
But it will have main examination only.So you need not worry about the prelims.
- Online written exam to be conducted at various centres in India in January 2016
- 200 objective questions for a total of 200 marks & duration of 120 minutes.
A paper/ section on ‘Professional Knowledge’ for 75 marks would have questions from the subject related to the post you apply (Agriculture for agri field officers, Computers & IT for IT officer, Marketing for marketing officer etc.,).
Since there are books/ guides available for IBPS specialist officer cwe, preparations wont be a difficult job.Listed below are some good reference materials for each post:
Eventhough you are eligible for all positions, application must be submitted for any one post.Fee of Rs.100 (SC/ST) or Rs.600 (others) must be paid between Nov 23 – Dec 10 via
Online – through netbanking, credit/ debit cards.The facility is made available at the IBPS website itself.
As proof of successful payment do not forget to print the e-receipt after funds transfer.These original receipts should be handed over at the exam venue.
- After collecting the necessary details, proceed to submit the online application form given at www.ibps.in
- If registered successfully, you will receive an email or sms with a reg. number & password that must be noted to download or print call letters in future.
Candidates are required to produce their documents & certificates at the time of Interview.Therefore make sure to specify your details correctly in the online application form.
