The discussions have greatly increased post the completion of IBPS CWE, each coming up with their own versions to answer the above question.
SBI not under IBPS Common Exam
Even if you were one among the 1.1 lakh candidates who cleared the 1st IBPS common PO exam, that scores cannot be used to register for SBI recruitments. Instead State bank & its 5 associate banks will conduct their own tests to fill vacancies happening within the group.This means,
Based on job notifications issued by SBI, candidates have to pay fees, submit applications & appear for exams.This will be followed by GD or Interview.
20000 Clerk Vacancies in SBI?
As we mentioned earlier, social communities on the internet are buzzing with the no.of posts that would be part of the state bank of India recruitment.
- While some say it could around 30,000, few others expect it might be just within 10,000.
- Since officials of the bank have not said divulged any details, these numbers are just assumptions based on its previous recruitments.
SBI has not announced any massive drive since the recruitment of 11000 clerks in Sep 2009.In 2010, call for 6000 clerical posts in SBI associate banks was out.

To get a clear picture, we contacted R.Rajaboopathy, founder of Radian IAS academy, a popular chennai based training institute for bank exams who says,
The SBI clerk recruitment is sure to happen, but the exact date is not exactly known.We believe it to be notified by end of December or early Jan 2012 & vacancies could be between 10,000 - 20,000.
Taking into the account the no. of retirements & new branches to be opened, experts feel the bank might induct more to fill the void.
Busy months ahead: This new year could will see enormous activity in banking jobs space as new bank jobs are to be announced based on the IBPS common exam.
