The most expected IBPS PO Main Exam 2015 has come to an end.The event is part of the recruitment of officers in public sector banks.A preliminary exam was conducted earlier & only those who qualified in it were eligible to appear for this written test held on October 31st.Many of those who have taken part in this exam have terms it as one of the toughest bank exams.Read on find out about IBPS PO main exam review in detail.
For the first time, aspirants are appearing for PO exam that was held in the recently modified two stage written test process introduced by IBPS (prelims results were out in Oct)
So everyone thought the IBPS PO main exam difficulty level could be like previous banking exams. But there was a surprise waiting!
‘All is Well’ until Reasoning & QA
The online test consisted of 5 sections with 200 questions in total. There was also a personality test that had around 130 – 140 situation based questions where candidates have to give their choices.
The easy scoring areas – English, General Awareness & Computer knowledge were doable. The questions were on expected lines & 90% of it ranged between easy to moderate.
The second shift computer & GK paper were little difficult tough, we were told.If you took the test during this shift, do share some questions.
Frustration Starts: Reasoning & Quantitative aptitude could have never been tougher than this is the general opinion of all candidates.
The kind of pattern may not have even been thought about in dreams.
IBPS has now set a new benchmark for mains exam by omitting some common topics such as probability, inequality, blood relation, simplification etc.,It looks they have purposefully set such a high level paper.
Since the usual chapters were not present, candidates had to spend more time on questions they were not good at, which caused a lot of disappointment & frustration.A feeling of failure gripped them now.
Puzzles, Input/Output, Arguments, Data sufficiency were like waging a war due to its toughness.
A majority of them were able to attend only 8 – 15 questions in each of these two sections which had 50.This itself speaks about the difficulty level.
Low Cutoffs Possible But…
Having looked at the performance, there is a talk about the possibility of low cutoffs because the exam was considered to be tough.
- But not all the sections were difficult.
- All candidates have performed really well in GK, English & Computers.
- Some have attended nearly 22 – 30 questions in reasoning & aptitude with 100% accuracy.
So the individual cutoff for reasoning & aptitude may go low whereas the total cutoff score need not be necessarily lower.
|LATEST UPDATE: 40,000 qualify in the IBPS PO Mains 2015 Exam|
Calculating Cutoff Scores: IBPS uses normalization method to convert your actual marks into scores and nobody knows that formula.
But the difficulty level will taken into consideration along with the no. of vacancies this year while declaring the qualifying scores. If they also choose accuracy as a factor to determine the total cutoff, low scores may not be possible.
Here is the IBPS PO Main exam expected cutoffs for 2015 which we had posted earlier.
We know many will not agree on total cutoffs reaching above 100.We too know that BUT these are the maximum ranges which means, the scores wont go beyond these numbers.
Also keep in mind that IBPS requires only 45,000 – 50,000 candidates for interviews (ratio of 1:3).Hence the candidates who have performed well with good no. of attempts can easily get in.
