What is the safe number of attempts in IBPS clerk mains 2016 – is one of the most common doubt raised by candidates who had applied for IBPS clerk recruitment in govt banks.Since clerical vacancies are announced in each state, there will be specific cutoffs for each state which you need to score.Hence we are providing the detailed list of expected attempts in IBPS clerk mains for each category, that will help you qualify.

 

The IBPS clerk mains is scheduled to happen on two dates - December 31, 2016 & January 1, 2017 at various centres across India.

 

With the release of IBPS clerk prelims results it is estimated that a minimum of 1 - 2 lakh candidates may have qualified for mains, as 19243 clerical jobs are to be filled in banks in 2017-18.

 

IBPS Clerk Mains: How Many Attempts to Qualify?

The clerical mains is an online test comprising of 200 questions for 200 marks with negative mark of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

 

 

As you can see, the total duration of this test is 135 minutes.But there is a time limit on each section within which you need to complete answering all the questions in that particular section.

 

Since there is no interview for clerk jobs in govt banks, candidates who qualify & secure the required cutoffs (sectional & total) in mains will directly be considered for allotment.

For example, If you belong to the state of Uttar Pradesh – make sure to attend a minimum of 145 questions correctly (general category) to increase your chances of qualifying in mains.

 

Similarly, for OBC candidates – answering 136 questions & SC/ ST: 115 & 100 questions can be expected as best attempts.

 

Note: Don't expect to qualify just by attending these number of questions.All the questions that you attend must be correct or atleast 95% must be right.
