15% Salary Increase & Saturday Holiday for Bank Employees

iba wage revision hike,10th Bipartite settlement declared, new salary for bank employees announcedBank employees couldn’t have asked for better start for the year 2015.The news of a salary increase is sure to bring smiles on the faces of all the bank employees in India.A long pending tussle between the govt. & officers association seem to have come to an end with this wage hike of 15%.Now there are more reasons for those aspiring to enter the banking sector.

The demand for increase in salary for bank employees started in November 2012 with the workmen associations deciding to press for the 10th Bipartite settlement.

The negotiations had been going on for the past 2 years during which numerous protests & strikes were held against the management for not agreeing to their demands.

15% Salary Increase

As per the settlement reached between the unions & Indian banks association(IBA), it has been decided that the wage increase in salary & allowances to be at 15%.

The workers association had asked for 17.5% increase which was awarded during their previous settlement. But it looks like the IBA has managed to convince them for a slightly lower offer.

This wage revision will be effective from 1.11.2012 which means all bank employees would also get arrears amount from the date mentioned above (more details are awaited on this front)

bank employees salary increase, what is the new salary for bank po & bank clerk, bank employees wage revision, bank employees salary increased, saturday holiday for banks, bank employees saturday holiday, how many days will bank employees work

The new payscale shall remain in force foe the next 5 years following which IBA & trade unions would come back to the negotiation table.

Saturday is a Holiday!!

Should banks follow a 5 day work week or not has been an ongoing debate for long. While public sector banks work for half-a-day on all saturdays currently, that system is to change soon.

In addition to the wage increase, the govt. supported IBA has agreed for the banks to close on 2nd & 4th Saturday in a month.

Here onwards, bank employees will have a holiday on 2nd & 4th Saturday. But they will have to work full days on the 1st & 3rd Saturday.

So govt. bank employees will have 5 day work implemented every alternate week.A good time to rejuvenate themselves.

What's the New Salary for PO & Clerk

salary of bank employeesI know many candidates preparing for bank exams will have this question in mind.

This wage revision will apply to over 8 lakh employees working in 27 public sector banks of India.

Since the news is just out, we will have to wait on how the wage increase is to be calculated, from when the new salary structure would come into effect, what is the amount of payout each cadre will get.

But on a rough scale, we were told this:

The salary of PO could be in the range of approx. Rs.36,300 – 38,000 & the salary of clerk could be approx. Rs.18,100 – 19,800 including allowances.

The take home salary (in hand) will vary with each state. As & when we get more details about it, this article will be updated.

This news will make more graduates situp & think about appearing for the upcoming bank exams. What do you say?

How to Answer Interview Question - Tell About Yourself

interview questions, how to answer tell me about yourself, tell about yourself interview answer, answering interview questions “I always clear written test but lose in Interview rounds”.”How to prepare for interview?” These are some of the commonly asked questions asked by many candidates.Hence, BankExamsIndia.com will be covering such Interview  questions, suggesting methods to answer them.

You apply for a job, prepare day & night for questions that are related to your field of study hoping they ask you something from it.

But the first question in most interviews is “Tell me about yourself“.

While we are comfortable in talking for long hours about all other things, we face a slight reluctance to speak about ourselves.Freshers & those applying for jobs not related to their education find this situation too difficult to handle.

Hence here is a compilation of some important tips that you can use while answering the ‘Tell me about yourself’ interview question in any organization.

Tell about you: Mention about your background, education, achievements, previous experiences &  abilities. It should also not sound as if you are reading your resume.

If you have graduated just out of college, speak about your achievements that might be useful to the job.

Be Short & Sweet:The interviewer is concerned knowing more about you, not the non-living things.

So avoid giving detailed info of your parents, relatives, school, college, city etc.,like I studied in John college. It was built 100 years ago & has a big library where 1000 people can sit.tell about yourself-speaking at an interview

Unless you are specifically asked about a certain person, place or location – DON’T go in detail.Keep it crisp.

Project yourself: Highlight your strengths that would be relevant to the job.

    For example –

    • If it is a bank job, let them know about your communication skills, computer knowledge etc.,
    • For software jobs, emphasize on your final year software project by giving details of the work, client, team & result.

Know about the company or organization, their services/projects & the position your applying.Prepare for interview in such a manner that you speak about your abilities in relation to the eligibility for that post.

Along with your academic or professional achievements, describe how those skills could help them.Make the interviewer feel that you are the right person for that job.

Above all, speak slowly & clearly. The best answer for this question shouldn’t take you more than 2-3 minutes. It doesn’t mean that you need to recite everything in a fast pace.Whatever you say should be understandable to the panel/ interviewer/ HR person.

    Here is a sample answer:

My name is Priya and I completed B.Com with 85% distinction from XYZ college.I have a natural interest in accounts & it was the reason for me being the college topper in accountancy subject.

Due to this, I was chosen to lead our account dept. projects at seminars held at various colleges & companies, which have given me great exposure to current industry standards.

With all these experiences, I am confident of excelling as Accounts Manager in your bank.

Remember: The above script is just an example & do not memorize it.Interview questions could make you nervous but answers should not be mugged since an interviewer can easily find out if you are speaking your or reciting answers read from a book or guide.

Follow the above steps, prepare a good answer & say it in your own words.Good Luck !

If your score is not above the required limit even in any one section, you are treated as ‘FAIL’.

Total score Cutoffs: On the other hand, calculating TWS (total scores) is easy & can be easily understood. ibps-po-2014-cutoff-marks-calculation

As per the formula, here are category-wise cutoff scores:

ibps-po-2014-total-cutoff-marks,ibps bank exam score, ibps po exam results, ibps common exam scores, how does IBPS calculate PO exam cutoff marks

A candidate is considered qualified only if he/she has scored equal to or above the fixed cutoffs mentioned earlier.

    Why 0?

Some are shocked to see their score as 0 in certain papers & argue they have attended maximum no. of questions in those sections. But there are other ‘factors’ such as,

    • Negative marks: This could have played a vital role in bringing down your score as each wrong answer reduces 0.25 marks.

What matters most is the no. of correct answers, than the the number of answered questions.

    Revaluation possible?

Many applicants who have lost their chance by just 1 or 2 marks are enquiring with us about re-checking & re-evaluation of answer sheets.

Unfortunately, there is NO PROVISION to request IBPS for revaluations & hence it is not possible.

To improve your current scores – you will have to appear for the next PO common exam in 2015.

  • Looking for Govt Jobs? SSC Exam Calendar 2015 is Out!!

ssc logo, ssc exams 2015,ssc exams in 2015,ssc jobs in 2015,what jobs are available for ssc exams Given a chance, many people in the private sector would look at shifting to government jobs at some point of time. One of the primary reason behind this mindset is the job security that comes attached with govt. jobs. That is perhaps the main factor for graduates to opt for bank jobs in India in recent times. To start your career in government sector, an individual needs to qualify in the exams conducted by SSC.

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the organization entrusted to conduct recruitments for jobs that fall under group B, C, D, defense services etc.,.These posts belong to different state & central government organizations.

The IBPS common exam for bank jobs such as PO, clerk & specialist officers are devised based on this pattern.(see IBPS bank exams new pattern in 2015)

Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam is one of the hugely popular test that is conducted by SSC, which you might know already. But there are many other recruitments that are held by them which will lead you to a government job.

    SSC Exams in 2015

If you or any of your friend is looking to appear for government jobs in 2015, then the exam calendar for the upcoming year will be useful.

For the complete list of examinations planned for the year ahead, download their official notification of 2015 calendar from the webpage here (.pdf)

    What Jobs can you Apply?

Having known the recruitment dates, the next question in your mind will be – What jobs are available for qualifiers of these exams?

Based on previous year intake, we have compiled a list of posts that are regularly notified through competitive exams of SSC.

    • Lower Division Clerks
    • Grade “C” and Grade ‘D” Stenographers
    • Assistants in the various Ministries/Departments (Govt. of India)
    • Inspectors in Central Excise & Income-Tax
    • Sub-Inspectors in CBI and Central Police Organisations
    • Junior Engineers in CPWD
    • Statistical Investigators
    • Section Officer in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department
    • Divisional Accountants, Auditors and Accountants under the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India and other Accounts Departments
    • Tax Assistant (Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) & Central Board of Excise and Customs)

As you can see, the commission mostly announces recruitment exams for Group B, C & D cadre positions in various ministries/ depts. of Indian government.

So if you are searching for upcoming govt. jobs in India & want to appear for govt. exams, the above SSC calendar for the year 2015-16 should be helpful.

    Bank Jobs vs. SSC Jobs:

ssc jobs vs bank jobs, bank jobs or govt jobs, ssc jobs vs bank jobs, should i choose bank jobs over ssc jobs This is one of the biggest question that we encounter whenever any notification of SSC is published.

Infact, there is nothing called SSC jobs since SSC is just an organization like IBPS that fills vacancies in govt. departments through respective selection process.

Incase if you wish to compare, it should be taken as bank jobs vs. govt. jobs filled through SSC.To answer such a doubt, here is our comparison so everyone can understand & benefit.

    • Although banks are owned by Govt. of India, its employees don’t come under the govt. directly like the ones directly employed by Govt.
    • Salary hikes/ wage revisions announced by the government are meant for those directly employed by them & NOT for those in public banks.
    • Banks decide on salary issue through unions with the govt. (This is the reason for numerous strikes that are held regularly)
    • Employees in a bank have to deal with customers daily while its not a necessity in other govt. jobs (except few depts.)

Finally, bank jobs cannot be compared with those filled through SSC as their profiles, & responsibilities are completely different.

We feel this article would have given you an overview of the things to expect from SSC in 2015 while answering some of your long standing doubts. So are you going to apply for the exams?
