Preference & Appointments

With the start of common process for bank recruitments - selections are racing to finish line within record time.

If you still have the question of how does preference system work or how will banks send appointments, here are its steps

  • Individuals who have qualified in both CWE & interview have to first register their order of preference for all participating banks (see best public sector banks in india)
  • At the same time IBPS would also have ranked candidates as per their total scores.
  • Depending on the vacancies in each bank of your preference & merit rank, a qualified candidate shall be allotted to one bank.

We know there could be more doubts related to the latest bank recruitment & appointment changes. So here is the compilation with answers for your common questions.

Q: I have registered my preference. Can i get PO job in that bank?

A: Merely indicating your order of preference does not confirm appointment. As appointments are made via merit list, those at the top have better chance to secure that vacancy compared to low scorer.

Q: What if I don't get appointed in any bank?

A: Incase of unfilled/additional vacancies, selections shall be made from a waitlist comprising of qualified candidates till March 31, 2014 whenever new posts are notified.

Q: Can I change my allotment order?

A: No.IBPS will not entertain any request for re-allotment or change of appointment to other organization.

Q: What if i don't accept the offer?

A: Since candidates are provided with just one offer of appointment, they wont be given another chance. Also your selection shall be cancelled for PO recruitments in 2013.

Before going further lets take a quick look at the common interview process. Since there wont be any individual banks interviewing people hereafter, its a make or break situation for IBPS CWE passouts to qualify & make themselves available for final selection.

Inside the Hall

As per candidate experiences, the panel generally consists of 4 or 5 members. Although they could be from banking background its not known whether they are employees of PSB or not.

Once the documents/ certificates are verified you shall be allowed to enter the room.A session lasts between 7-12 mins with 10-15 questions per candidate.

Common Interview Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes but what we learn from it to avoid them is more important.

To perform well in interviews one must also know the errors regularly committed by candidates so you don't fall in the same pit. Here are 5 areas where most fail in bank interviews.

No knowledge about banking sector: With 61000 aspirants in race for 20000 PO vacancies across 20 public banks there is heavy competition. Therefore it is important to showcase yourself as the best choice among others. Here are how you can accomplish it.

  • Memorize terminologies/ words used in banks.
  • Go through banking awareness books used during exams once again.

To know the latest developments in banking field, visit websites such as businessline, google business, rediff news etc

Being careless in GK: Occasional newspaper reading alone will not help you preparing for common bank interviewsgain general knowledge especially when news flows rapidly nowadays.Since there are no preset topics for common interviews questions could range from national, international, sports or business.

To stay ahead keep track of all headlines through bing news, livemint (for business) & note down events that are worthy of second read.

Relying too much on others: Interview experiences are guiding tools which help you get an outline of the procedure. But don’t expect to learn everything by glancing through shared experiences only.

Similarly over-reliance on books is also detrimental as it shall sound vague. Infuse life into your answers by making them realistic that the panel loves to hear.

Not knowing about yourself: Almost all candidates attending common interviews seem to face this question – ‘Why did you choose bank jobs’.We receive lot of emails asking us for the best answer but there isn’t one. (see tips on answering why bank jobs)

There should be a reason for all to choose a career in banking. We suggest you to say that real push instead of borrowing from others. What works for one may not necessarily help another.

Getting nervous: The very sight of panel will send shivers for some making them gasp for breath, sweat profusely, stammer while answering and eventually flunk. Although you got to be serious and focused on the interview, just keep it upto a level.passing ibps common interviews

Ask any successful person he/she would stress on staying calm during interviews.

  • Pay attention to what the panel says & respond to that point only
  • Do not panic if you don’t know an answer.
  • Be bold in saying ‘I don’t know’ rather than giving wrong answers

If you dont know what to expect from the panel, look at Top 8 questions asked in bank interviews

Reign in these 5 common interview mistakes and you are sure to come out with flying colors this recruitment season.

The Best Public Sector Banks in India [Candidates Choice 2013]

the most popular psu in india, popular public sector bank in india,best-public-sector-banks-india-survey,which are the top public sector banks in india The common written examinations by IBPS for entry level bank jobs have changed the recruitment landscape of banking sector altogether. But which are the best & most popular public sector banks in India according to bank job aspirants?Comparing previous years, the selection process has become more streamlined & candidates are now in a position to choose banks they wish to join.

Although there are numerous IT companies, working in Infosys is considered dream come true and prestigious for many.It is difficult to single out a reason for such choices as each individual has a different opinion about an organization. The same applies for government banks as well.

In a bid to find the best & popular government owned bank in the eyes of a jobseeker we ran a poll on BankExamsIndia.com few months back. Here are its exclusive results.

PNB – The choice of masses

Which bank do you like to work’ – was the question put forth to our visitors. Since common exam (CWE) scorers are eligible to apply for vacancies in 19 banks (now 20), names of these nineteen PSB's were listed as options.

The image below shows the number of votes received,

best public sector banks in india, top public banks to work, order of preference for ibps oommon interviews, top 10 public sector banks in india, popular banks in india

Over 25000 voted to pick their favorite & they did choose a winner.

  • Punjab National Bank emerged as the top choice of bank job applicants with 4900 people aspiring to work for them.
  • Bank of Baroda coming second with 3500 votes was not a surprise considering the brand value BOB carries.
  • Garnering 2800 wishes, Bank of India occupied the 3rd position.
  • UCO bank came last with 487 votes

Since State Bank of India does not come under IBPS selection procedure & conducts separate recruitments for its vacancies, SBI did not feature in the poll list.Needless to say, State Bank group is everybody`s 1st first choice.

These rankings may not be the choice of everyone but certainly is an eye-opener to know about the mindset of young generation waiting to start their career as bankers.

Why this Survey Results are Important?

The findings of this polling gains significance in the current scenario, especially after the recent announcement of 22000 bank jobs (PO) as part of IBPS common recruitment procedure. We can hear you asking how.

Once the combined final merit list of CWE & interviews are released, IBPS shall ask qualifiers to submit their order of preference for all participating banks (from most to least preferred).

Based on your overall score, vacancies advertised in each PSB & preference - appointment in one bank would be offered.

Disqualified candidates will have to appear for the CWE next year as there is no second chance in this new process.See (how common interviews have made bank job selection tough)

From the above table candidates can get to know the demand for each bank & can predict to some extent whether they stand a chance to join them or not.

So, have you started feeling the heat of competition?

For PO CWE 2012 - Common Interviews & No 60% in Graduation

ibps common interviews, bank po common interviews,is 60% in graduation required for bank jobsBank recruitments have undergone many changes in the past one year including that of moving from individual exam pattern to common written tests. Not many would have thought bank jobs would accompany such stringent selection procedures. The latest to join in this list is the introduction of common interviews & uniform educational qualifications.

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) released PO CWE results which were held in June 2012 & 61339 candidates were pronounced as qualified.

At the same time a notification from government recommended single interviewing process and hiking of education criteria for PO & clerk level positions.

To clarify these new rules BankExamsIndia.com contacted Dr.A.K.Konar (division head) of IBPS with some doubts frequently raised by our readers.

Get ready for Common Interviews

Yes, the common interviews (CI) to be coordinated by IBPS shall start from this year onwards making PO 2012 passouts the first batch to appear in this new exercise.

In relation to this, the institute will ask candidates to provide their order of preference (they like to join) among 20 public banks.Based on the final merit list, vacancies and preference given, they shall be allotted to banks.

An important point to note here is – a person will not get two or more calls.Incase you choose to reject the offer of common-interviews-for-bank-jobs,ibps common interviewsappointment or don't report for duty on the specified dates, you won't receive offers from remaining banks.

Such people have no other choice but to appear for next common exams & reenter the recruitment system again (see getting selected for bank jobs turn tough)

Although this may sound a little harsh it can be expected to put an end to multiple selections which marred previous recruitments.

60% in Degree From Next Year

The news of Indian govt fixing 60% in graduation for PO posts could have been haunting many with low scorers fearing disqualification.

We have been told that it will be implemented only from the next CWE.So there is every reason for those below 60% to smile.

But remember this is your last chance to make it as probationary officer because the new rule will make you ineligible to register for IBPS PO CWE 2013.

With your month long doubts getting clarified, aspirants can shrug off worries & start preparing for common interviews or IBPS clerk common examinations.
