  • International Fleet Review (IFR) concluded in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The event conducted by Indian Navy was held from February 4 – 8, 2016.

     

    Navies from approximately 52 countries have participated in this year`s review that had the theme ‘United through Oceans’.IFR was previously held in January 2001.

     

  • Jharkhand’s Proposal of setting up a Sanskrit University in the Deoghar District was agreed by thie Central Government.

    New Appointments:

    Vishal Mehta, based in Singapore was today appointed President of the newly formed International Grown Diamond Association (IGDA).He is the CEO of a company that produces lab diamonds.

  • Pawan Negi became the most expensive Indian Player to be bought at the IPL Auction 2016.He was signed by Delhi Daredevils for 8.5 crores.

     

  • India defeated Namibia in the ICC Under-19 World Cup quarterfinal, winning by 197 runs.

     

  • Australia defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the second ODI of their tour to level the Series 1-1.

  • A New Weather Forecasting satellite being developed by ISRO is being built at 60% of the actual cost and in one third of the estimated time.

     

  • British broadcaster BBC for the first time broadcasted a live stream of a ‘Six Nations Championship’ rugby match between Scotland and England, to the International Space Station (ISS)

     

    Obituaries:edgar mitchell

    NASA Astronaut Edgar Mitchell died in West Palm Beach, Florida.He who was the 6th man to walk on the Moon.

     

    The event took place on February 5, 1971.

  • Corporation Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Universal Sompo General Insurance Co Ltd for providing accident death coverage to its savings bank account holders under Corp Signature, Corp Super and Corp Saral category.

     

  • ICICI Academy for Skills shall train around 45,000 candidates in the 2017 fiscal & take the total number of trained youth to over 1 lakh.The academy through its Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) provides training to rural population.

     

  • Union Health & Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda on 1 February 2016 awarded the certificate of Miniratna status to Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Ltd (HSCC).It was received by the CMD Gyanesh Pandey at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.
