The UIIC AO exam pattern was similar to banking exams but due to the fact that no proper books were available, preparing for it was quite difficult for many.

The online written test for a total of 200 marks was conducted on June 12, 2016.It comprised of 5 sections in objective tests & a separate descriptive test.

UIIC AO Exam Review – Paper Not Easy

Most candidates who had taken the test were of the view that the exam was not easy.At the same time, they did not term it as difficult either.

Infact many were disappointed about their performance & appeared confused after coming out the hall.So we can assume the UIIC AO exam 2016 was somewhere between moderate & tough.

Reasoning: There were 50 questions in this section with each correct answer fetching you 1 mark. Some of the topics covered are:

  • Puzzles
  • Arrangements
  • Inequality
  • Syllogism
  • Input-Output
  • Statements
  • Direction sense

Even though the problems were of known type, it involved calculations thereby increasing the time spent on each problem. But on the whole, the reasoning selection was of moderate level.

Number of good attempts: 35+ with good accuracy can be considered as safe number.

Quantitative aptitude: QA is generally the most feared section in any competitive exam. But fortunately, it was not hard this time.

50 questions should be answered & they were from:

  • Series
  • Data interpretation
  • Quadratic equations
  • Approximations
  • Numerical problems such as Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Partnership, Ratio & Proportion, Problem on ages

They were answerable but time-consuming.Few candidates couldn’t attend all the question in other sections, due to this issue.

Number of safe attempts: 35+ with good accuracy can be considered as safe number.

English language: The 40 questions from this section were on expected lines. Not any big surprises. It covered the following topics:

It was easy for those who know the language well & candidates with issues in answering english section found it to be of moderate difficulty.

Number of good attempts: 20+ with good accuracy can be considered as safe number.

General awareness: The UIIC AO notification had already specified that general questions in general awareness shall be related to financial sector.

Of the 40 questions asked in two shifts, majority were related to finance, economy & banking sector. So those who didn’t expect such a pattern found it hard to guess the answers.

Safe attempts: 25+ can be considered as good number to attend. So we can clearly say the cutoffs in GK section could play a crucial role in selections.

Computers & Professional Knowledge: For generalist posts, questions about computer literacy were asked & for specialists, they were tested on their professional knowledge in relevant discipline.

Feedback was mixed for this section with some calling it easy while some called it medium. So we will assume the difficulty as moderate.

Good attempts: 15+ for computer literacy & 27+ for professional knowledge are safe number of questions to have answered.

Descriptive Test: It had only two questions – Letter writing & Essay which most of them had done well.

  • Letters should contain atleast 150 words & carries 10 marks
