Moreover, choosing a state without knowledge of their official language can lead to disqualification.
Here is the detailed table containing the list of states, vacancies & its official languages:
I only know to speak a language. Can I apply for that state?
No.You cannot apply for that specific state.
Lets say, you are working in Bangalore & know to speak kannada. But you cannot apply for that state because, to get clerk post in Karnataka state, you should be able to read, write & speak kannada language.
Those of you who only know to speak or read but cannot write – are not eligible to apply for that state.
Which states have Hindi as an official language?
Bihar,Chandigarh, Chattisgarh,Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya pradesh, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand are the states that consider hindi as their official language for ibps clerk recruitment.
You can decide on how to fill IBPS bank clerk preferences, based on this list of states,
I did not study that language in school? Can I still apply?
Yes, you can still apply.
Incase you had studied the official language as a subject at school level, it can be taken as valid proof. But candidates who didn't study it, need to appear for a test.
Banks may conduct a language proficiency test at the time of appointment to test your ability.Failing to qualify in it will lead to cancellation of selection.
Can I get transfer to my home state later after joining in another state?
While some banks don't allow clerk transfers from one state to other, some banks do permit them.
So it entirely depends on the transfer policy of each bank & also it is different. So we cannot guarantee any transfers between states.
Whichever location you get posted initially, be ready to work within that state for the first few years.
