No Final Ranks says IBPS;Complains to Cybercrime About Websites

bank final score ranks, bank preference ranking, ibps po clerk ranks,no ranks for ibps bank jobs Guess what kept candidates busy after final combined scores for PO recruitment were out on IBPS website. They flocked onto social networks asking - What is my rank? Thanks to some bank job related websites who started circulating lists called as candidate rankings.Complaints have been lodged against such properties says an official from IBPS.

BankExamsIndia.com contacted the institute to clarify doubts continually raised by candidates over ranks, eligibility & allotment process.Dr.A.K.Konar set things straight with his replies.

There are No Ranks At All

Soon after the final results were out a specific website had created a separate page revealing personal details of applicants. Here is a conversation between two people in an online discussion forum,

#1: My roll number is xxxxxxx. What is my rank?

#2: I checked the list.Your AIR (all India rank) is 8375 & chances are bright.

The #2 person became an instant hit & continued providing opinions for others.

While some aspirants question the authenticity of such claims many are still busy running from one pillar to other trying to know their final ranks.

Allotments are only through merit & IBPS has not awarded any type of ranks to qualifiers, said the divisional head.

With this confirmation we believe people shall stop inquiring their position & guess others` status.

Website Owners Warned

Recently more websites started releasing similar lists containing candidate`s name, roll number & so called ranks.

Either those data could have been hacked or could be mere assumptions which we are unsure of.But IBPS is taking strict note of the happenings. cybercrime arrest hacking

Terming the practice as ‘unethical’, he said

‘Webmasters should be careful of what they host on sites. If not, they’ll have to face situations as per law.’

Disclosing few sitenames, we were told that complaints have been filed with the Police (Cyber crime cell).

Merit Followed by Preference

To get a clear picture on the process of preference and its effect on allotments, we requested for the detailed procedure.

The key highlights from his responses are:

  • A person with high score is sure to get the bank of his/her choice.
  • If there are no vacancies in their 1st preferred bank, its checked with 2nd choice then 3rd & so on.
  • In this manner the top 22412 candidates shall get bank jobs.
  • Since the validity of scores is 1 year there could be drop-outs & new vacancies announced.
  • In such cases a waiting list shall be prepared from the remaining qualified candidates, he explained.

On the possibility of releasing score ranges, ‘No’ was the answer.

60% in Degree Required?

Websites that showcased their predictions about selection made many eligibility criteria for bank exams, who are eligible to apply for bank jobs, uniform eligibility conditions for bank jobs,no seperate eligiblityassumptions & instilled the ‘eligibility criteria’ fear among candidates.

Needless to say about its impact after reading, many are facing sleepless nights with the doubt -

Will banks ask for 60% marks in graduation after allotment?

‘Banks will not announce additional eligibility conditions hereafter as all participating organisations shall follow the same criteria specified during CWE’ was the reply we got on posing the above question.

So the official word from IBPS is – PSB`s wont demand for 55% or 60% after appointment. It is enough if you had passed in graduation.

Although you can rejoice now, only those with 60% marks in UG may be eligible for the next IBPS PO common exam (see who can apply for bank exams in 2013)

Can Final Year Students Appear for Bank Exams? [Ur Doubt Answered]

final year students for bank exams, who can apply for bank exams in 2013,eligibility for bank jobs 2012 In India, search for jobs starts right from the college especially during final year of studies. While some aspire to get into top private companies few others lookout for opportunities in public sector hoping for secured future.Hence it’s always common to see students prepare for various governmental exams while still in college.

With the number of bank jobs on the rise for the past couple of years, many are focusing on cracking bank exams.BankExamsIndia.com has been receiving questions from such people asking if they can take up these tests while in college.

Things have changed aplenty on this front. So we have put together the rules that shall help those currently pursuing degree to better understand their positions.

Who can apply for IBPS Common Exams?

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is the organization that conducts common written examinations for probationary officer & clerk level posts in 20 public sector banks. To register for CWE, applicants have to fulfill certain conditions that include age, education etc

The Govt. of India had recommended changes in eligibility criteria that were implemented for the recently concluded clerk exams.According to it only graduates were allowed to take part in clerks selection.Previously the minimum qualification was 60% marks in 12th std.

So students in final year/semester cannot apply for IBPS common test anymore with their school marks. On a similar note, 60% in degree shall be required for PO jobs hereafter.

Can I apply for SBI jobs?

While discussing about government jobs, its hard to keep away State Bank of India. For their previous clerical recruitment - applications from candidates with either degree pass or 50% in std.XII were invited. This prompted students undergoing graduation also to apply.

On successful appointment, some even discontinued their regular college to opt for correspondence/ distance education courses.Such is the value of getting a job in India`s largest bank.

Although 20,000 openings are to be filled - State Bank of India has not issued any new recruitment notices after the condition changes in other PSBs.Their official stand will be known only when SBI recruitments in 2013 are announced.

So if there isn't any modification final year students can apply for SBI clerk jobs.

Which Banks Ask for 60% in Degree for PO Jobs [Answered]

bank-job-marks,bank jobs eligibility conditions, who can apply for bank jobs To all those aspirants looking for bank jobs in 2012, these are testing times.Everyday they get to hear some info related to IBPS common exams which creates a stir, spills over to online forums & gains momentum. The recent confusion is about the minimum marks required in graduation.

Ever since the banks opened registrations for new vacancies, the above question has cropped frequently among those having less than 60% marks.

The process: 20 public sector banks will be filling probationary officer positions by selecting candidates qualified in the common written examinations conducted by IBPS.

New Rules Set

At the time of online application registration for PO CWE in March 2012, IBPS had invited degree pass-outs.But early July `12, changes in the recruitment process were forwarded to PSB heads by Ministry of finance.(see Govt steps in with changes)

Some of their important recommendations are,

* To fix minimum education for clerks as graduation & 60% in degree for PO`s,

* To conduct common interviews

While the rule of ‘graduates only’ is implemented for the upcoming clerk common exam, 61000 qualifiers of PO CWE 2012 are not sure of whether 60% in degree will apply for them or from next exam onwards.

Who Called Whom?

If banks are allowed to fix their own eligibility criteria, it is possible for them to stick with qualifications specified in past recruitments.

So here is a tabulation describing the education details of each PSB..

Pass (no marks)

55% marks

60% marks

Bank of Baroda Indian Bank Punjab National Bank
Central Bank of India  Punjab & Sind Bank Indian Overseas Bank
Allahabad Bank Syndicate Bank Canara Bank
Bank of Maharashtra UCO Bank Bank of India
Corporation Bank Union Bank of India
Dena Bank

United Bank of India

IDBI Bank

Vijaya Bank

Andhra Bank
Oriental Bank of Commerce

(These details compiled from their previous notifications are indicative & may change in future)

What Could Happen?

As IBPS has not clarified on above fronts let us see the decisions they have at their disposal:

  • Conduct common interviews for all qualified candidates of PO 2012 with old qualifications & apply education criteria for PO exams in 2013 OR
  • Comply with the proposal of ministry & call only those having 60% in graduation for common interviews OR
  • Postpone new rules & stay with previous system of bank recruitments (individual interviews) which is highly unlikely considering the multiple selection issue.

Since the new scores shall become active only from December 2012 (after expiry of previous scorecards), Institute of banking personnel selection may well make an announcement in the coming days.

Eligibility criteria – Can I Convert 54.9% to 55% Marks?

am i eligible question, bank exam eligibility, bank jobs eligibility One of the frequently asked question by our readers & that which could be lingering in many applicants minds is - Am I eligible for this recruitment with the marks specified in eligibility criteria. This doubt seems to creep up for every bank recruitment. To help you understand clearly, we have explained some important points.

Since the eligibility conditions and its method of application are similar, the below info can also be relevant for government & other competition exams.

Filtering through Marks

Whatever be the job, the preliminary selection is done by looking at your marks in the recent exam (either degree or equivalent).Let us take an example,

A company invites applications for trainee posts from those who have completed degree with 65% only. Why?

There are two reasons for follow this method,

  1. to select the best candidates
  2. to lower the competition as they move into the next stage of selection

As far as bank jobs are concerned, the following sentence would find place in  its notification:

Candidates with minimum educational qualification of a degree with 60% marks are eligible to send their applications.

It means that you must have either scored exactly or above 60% in degree exams.

Do not round marks!

In case you have scored 59.8% or 59.5% & thought of rounding it to the next whole number integer 60% - it is not possible.

  • You are not allowed to declare the marks by choosing to approximate it.
    • that is 54.9% should not be converted as 55%.
  • The scores even though in decimals must be mentioned in the application in the same format as given in the degree certificate or final mark sheet.

So in the above scenario, 59.8% is less than 60% is still less than the required marks & hence the candidate is not eligible to apply.

In competition exams such as bank recruitments where every mark counts, allowing candidates to round-off decimal figures to integers would be unfair & wont be a level playing field, says a bank exams trainer.

Graduation score: Remember that your under graduate marks would only be considered for banking jobs & not your PG marks (see, UG marks preferred by banks)

Hope your doubts regarding calculation of marks for eligibility conditions would end here.

Computer knowledge necessary: In India, almost all public & private sector banks have networked their branches by computers (core banking solutions) with the aim of providing faster & efficient services to common people.

  • Through this platform, employees can access customer`s information from any branch in India & perform transactions related to account such as withdrawals, deposits etc., all at the touch of a button.

Is MBA Necessary to Apply for Bank Jobs?

The biggest confusion that a candidate gets while searching for a job is about his Eligibility and Education qualification. Although we answer questions raised by readers, some queries are commonly asked by many candidates. This is one such question that has been asked from the time we started bankexamsindia.com !

Q: Should I be a MBA graduate to be eligible/apply for bank recruitments ?

A : MBA graduation is NOT necessary for entry level recruitments conducted by public sector banks. Entry level jobs are Clerks, Probationary Officers & in some cases Managers. For applying to these positions, the minimum eligibility would be a Degree or Pass in 12th/ 10th std in any discipline.

* Incase the recruitment is for specialized posts like Agriculture, Systems, IT, Credit, Finance etc., -  candidates with Degree in those subjects would be asked to apply.

Healthy Competition: Public sector banks does also recruit MBA candidates! Infact, some banks mention in recruitment notice, that candidates with higher qualifications would be preferred. But for these entry level jobs, all eligible candidates, irrespective of degrees will have to appear for the written test.

(private banks have not been discussed here, since they follow a recruitment process of their own & it is heard, most private sector banks recruit management graduates)

Final Word : B.Sc/ Diploma or MBA graduate - whatever be the qualification, only those who prepare for bank exams & pass in the written examination with maximum marks, make it to the Interview & then to the job finally.

We hope this post on education qualification would help shed some light on a question that many would have longed to ask someone, before applying for upcoming bank exams.
