baroda-manipal-school-of-banking-po-2012-2013-logo,baroda manipal school of banking exam pattern, what questions will be asked in baroda manipal online test, prepare for baroda manipal school of banking exam, baroda manipal school of banking exam 2013With the introduction of IBPS common written exams, individual exams conducted by banks have become a thing of the past.Bank of Baroda & Manipal university while announcing the admissions for Baroda Manipal School of Banking (BMSB) 2013 batch have decided on an eligibility test in July month & we take you through its structure.

As part of this tie-up, selected candidate will be enrolled for 1 year PG diploma (banking & finance) course & on successful completion of training they shall be inducted into Bank of Baroda as probationary officer (scale I).

For the current year 2013-14, BMSB is to takein 4 batches (once every 3 months), each consisting of 300 students.

Selection process

The procedure to gain entry into Baroda manipal school of banking goes through these 3 stages,

  1. Online Test
  2. Group discussion
  3. Personal Interview

BOB says,

the aim is to find people who are bright, have good communication skills (oral & written), are dedicated, can work effectively in teams, are passionate about their career goals and who display integrity and a positive attitude.

Though students are to be admitted in batches once every 3 months, they shall be selected in advance through this single exam. The next recruitment exercise will happen only in the year 2014.

Baroda Manipal Test Pattern

Unlike regular banking exams involving OMR sheets this is not a written examination but an online test that is scheduled on July 7, 2013.It consists of the following papers.

baroda manipal school of banking exam pattern, baroda manipal online exam pattern, baroda manipal exam syllabus, baroda manipal school of banking 2013

Candidates will have to attend around 200 objective questions within 2 hours & 5 descriptive type in 60 minutes.

Descriptive Test:

This section is to test your written english skills through Comprehension, Precis, Letter Writing & Essay.See how to prepare for descriptive test & model questions

It is only a qualifying test & marks secured in this part wont be added to total scores.

Books:

There are no separate books available for baroda manipal exam.Instead you can make use of IBPS PO CWE materials.

* PO Officers Exam Guide – Rs.347 – Buy online (has practice quests, solved papers & descriptive)

With the exam only in July concentrate on practicing as many problems possible. In addition, this guide will also be useful for upcoming IBPS PO 2013 exams.

Cutoff & Marks

A total of 200 marks is allotted for the online objective test. For each wrong answer, negative mark is awarded (could be 0.25)

Based on your performance in both tests cutoffs shall be fixed for each category.

BOB would then call those in the merit list for group discussion & personal interviews in the ratio of 1:4 (approx. 5000 candidates)

Exam Difficulty Level:

Although BOB hasn't mentioned anything about the level of questions, the pattern looks similar to that of IBPS PO exams. So expect moderate – difficult questions as there are only limited seats available per batch.

We contacted few candidates who appeared for last year`s test.

Though they were not able to recollect the question paper, most agreed that reasoning & quantitative aptitude sections played the tricky part.

Since the period to prepare for baroda manipal`s test is pretty long we suggest registrants to devote extra time for those two papers during preparations.

For detailed analysis & review of 2012 test, read How i performed in baroda manipal online test (as told by candidate)

Announcement of Results:

The first batch of students are expected to join baroda manipal school of banking`s campus at Bangalore in September this year.

So in all probability one can look forward for the test results by July end that`ll pave way for GD & interviews in August 2013.

To help those getting ready for SBI PO recruitment 2013 exam - BankExamsIndia.com has compiled a comprehensive guide explaining about the descriptive english test question paper

This article talks on 1) What is descriptive test 2) Pattern 3) Books 4) Sections

What Is It?

An officer in a bank will have to write letters, prepare reports or send views & opinions to higher officials as & when required.

So descriptive paper as part of banking exams aims to check the english language proficiency of applicants.

Every year, many candidates fail to secure pass marks in descriptive paper making them ineligible for personal interviews. How?

  • If you do not clear or score qualifying marks in any objective section – your descriptive test paper will not be taken up for evaluation.
  • Apart from securing minimum marks in each objective test, its also necessary to pass in descriptive test.
  •

    Descriptive Exam Pattern

As already discussed the SBI PO exam will contain the following sections,

Some important points to understand in here are:

    1. You will have to answer descriptive section within 60 minutes (1 hour)
    2. It shall be conducted for 50 marks
    3. In SBI PO 2011 exam descriptive cutoffs were 20 (gen) & 18 (others). See previous year SBI examination cutoffs for the complete picture.

You can expect the english descriptive paper to contain questions from these categories:

    • Letter Writing
    • Precis writing
    • Essay Writing
    • Reading comprehension & Paragraph writing

    Previous year questions:

In the previously conducted common written examination for PO/MT posts, descriptive test paper consisted of the below questions (based on memory)

    1. Write a letter to a branch for closing savings account OR to a friend inviting him/her for seminar on netbanking OR to a bank for higher education loan.
    2. Write an essay on any of the given topics a) Right to education act b) Financial Inclusion c) How technology can benefit banking industry.
    3. Paragraph writing:  a) Rural banking  b) Impact of autonomy to banks.

The word count specified in the question is important as you will have to write the answers on the question paper itself, within the space provided.

    Books:

Whatever be the exam, preparatory books act as source of reference. Here are some good books for SBI PO recruitment from Arihant publications

    * How to crack SBI PO exam (guide with explanations/solved papers) – Rs.296 – Buy online

    * Descriptive English Guide (covers SBI PO descriptive) – Rs.259 – Buy online

    How to Prepare:

A general rule that must be followed while answering is not to make spelling mistakes. Now let us see what type of questions could be asked in each category.

Letter writing: There shall be internal choices for this part. You will be asked to write a letter to someone you know (parents, friend, relation etc) or to a bank manager enquiring about a service or to a newspaper editor.

Refer to the books mentioned above or use your Std.X or XII grammar book to know about letter formats.

Essay writing: A topic/title is given based on which you need to write an essay in about 250 words. This is also an internal choice question wherein three topics shall be provided for you to choose any one.

It is not possible to memorize articles beforehand. So pick up a random topic related to banking, finance, current affairs etc.,& practice writing. Here is our list, which you can try:

    • FDI in retail
    • Rise of the American dollar
    • Are bank mergers beneficial?
    • Latest technologies in banking

Precis Writing: Read the given article of atleast 500 words, understand its meaning, summarize & make a precis (shorter version). The only requirement is – do not change the meaning of the original passage.

    For practicing -

    1. Take a long newspaper report,
    2. Leave unnecessary details,
    3. Pick only the important statements
    4. Write a summary.

Ask any of your family or friends to compare both to make sure you have not deviated from the original.

Paragraph writing: Titles will be printed & you must write a paragraph related to the given topic in not more than 150 words.

To write good paragraphs, sentence formation should be proper & to cultivate it one must read english magazines & newspapers.Story or comic books can also help you gain control over writing skills.

ibps common interview reviews, ibps common interview process 2013,ibps common interview questions, ibps common interview mistakes, prepare for ibps common interviews The final chance for CWE qualified people to secure bank jobs in india`s PSBs has arrived. With the common interviews by IBPS for PO positions having begun, candidates are all eyes on cracking it.By now you would have received many tips on preparing for banking interviews and areas to cover. But what are the common mistakes to avoid?

Before going further lets take a quick look at the common interview process. Since there wont be any individual banks interviewing people hereafter, its a make or break situation for IBPS CWE passouts to qualify & make themselves available for final selection.

    Inside the Hall

As per candidate experiences, the panel generally consists of 4 or 5 members. Although they could be from banking background its not known whether they are employees of PSB or not.

Once the documents/ certificates are verified you shall be allowed to enter the room.A session lasts between 7-12 mins with 10-15 questions per candidate.

    Common Interview Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes but what we learn from it to avoid them is more important.

To perform well in interviews one must also know the errors regularly committed by candidates so you don't fall in the same pit. Here are 5 areas where most fail in bank interviews.

No knowledge about banking sector: With 61000 aspirants in race for 20000 PO vacancies across 20 public banks there is heavy competition. Therefore it is important to showcase yourself as the best choice among others. Here are how you can accomplish it.

    • Memorize terminologies/ words used in banks.
    • Go through banking awareness books used during exams once again.

To know the latest developments in banking field, visit websites such as businessline, google business, rediff news etc

Being careless in GK: Occasional newspaper reading alone will not help you preparing for common bank interviewsgain general knowledge especially when news flows rapidly nowadays.Since there are no preset topics for common interviews questions could range from national, international, sports or business.

To stay ahead keep track of all headlines through bing news, livemint (for business) & note down events that are worthy of second read.

Relying too much on others: Interview experiences are guiding tools which help you get an outline of the procedure. But don’t expect to learn everything by glancing through shared experiences only.

Similarly over-reliance on books is also detrimental as it shall sound vague. Infuse life into your answers by making them realistic that the panel loves to hear.

Not knowing about yourself: Almost all candidates attending common interviews seem to face this question – ‘Why did you choose bank jobs’.We receive lot of emails asking us for the best answer but there isn’t one. (see tips on answering why bank jobs)

There should be a reason for all to choose a career in banking. We suggest you to say that real push instead of borrowing from others. What works for one may not necessarily help another.

Getting nervous: The very sight of panel will send shivers for some making them gasp for breath, sweat profusely, stammer while answering and eventually flunk. Although you got to be serious and focused on the interview, just keep it upto a level.passing ibps common interviews

Ask any successful person he/she would stress on staying calm during interviews.

    • Pay attention to what the panel says & respond to that point only
    • Do not panic if you don’t know an answer.
    • Be bold in saying ‘I don’t know’ rather than giving wrong answers

If you dont know what to expect from the panel, look at Top 8 questions asked in bank interviews

Reign in these 5 common interview mistakes and you are sure to come out with flying colors this recruitment season.

The Best Public Sector Banks in India [Candidates Choice 2013]

the most popular psu in india, popular public sector bank in india,best-public-sector-banks-india-survey,which are the top public sector banks in india The common written examinations by IBPS for entry level bank jobs have changed the recruitment landscape of banking sector altogether. But which are the best & most popular public sector banks in India according to bank job aspirants?Comparing previous years, the selection process has become more streamlined & candidates are now in a position to choose banks they wish to join.

Although there are numerous IT companies, working in Infosys is considered dream come true and prestigious for many.It is difficult to single out a reason for such choices as each individual has a different opinion about an organization. The same applies for government banks as well.

In a bid to find the best & popular government owned bank in the eyes of a jobseeker we ran a poll on BankExamsIndia.com few months back. Here are its exclusive results.

PNB – The choice of masses

Which bank do you like to work’ – was the question put forth to our visitors. Since common exam (CWE) scorers are eligible to apply for vacancies in 19 banks (now 20), names of these nineteen PSB's were listed as options.

The image below shows the number of votes received,

best public sector banks in india, top public banks to work, order of preference for ibps oommon interviews, top 10 public sector banks in india, popular banks in india

Over 25000 voted to pick their favorite & they did choose a winner.

                  • Punjab National Bank emerged as the top choice of bank job applicants with 4900 people aspiring to work for them.
                  • Bank of Baroda coming second with 3500 votes was not a surprise considering the brand value BOB carries.
                  • Garnering 2800 wishes, Bank of India occupied the 3rd position.
                  • UCO bank came last with 487 votes

Since State Bank of India does not come under IBPS selection procedure & conducts separate recruitments for its vacancies, SBI did not feature in the poll list.Needless to say, State Bank group is everybody`s 1st first choice.

These rankings may not be the choice of everyone but certainly is an eye-opener to know about the mindset of young generation waiting to start their career as bankers.

Why this Survey Results are Important?

The findings of this polling gains significance in the current scenario, especially after the recent announcement of 22000 bank jobs (PO) as part of IBPS common recruitment procedure. We can hear you asking how.

Once the combined final merit list of CWE & interviews are released, IBPS shall ask qualifiers to submit their order of preference for all participating banks (from most to least preferred).

Based on your overall score, vacancies advertised in each PSB & preference - appointment in one bank would be offered.

Disqualified candidates will have to appear for the CWE next year as there is no second chance in this new process.See (how common interviews have made bank job selection tough)

From the above table candidates can get to know the demand for each bank & can predict to some extent whether they stand a chance to join them or not.

So, have you started feeling the heat of competition?

                  1. Personal details

This will be the first section wherein you are asked about your family, education etc., Normally the question is like ‘Tell us about yourself’.

Start with a short introduction about family background & move on to highlight your skills & achievements or college projects. (checkout how to answer tell me about yourself)

G.K books may help for historical data but newspapers & news channels are your only source for latest happenings.

                  5. Know your state

Public banks are now demanding applicants for clerical posts to posses proficiency in local language of the state.

In addition to testing your language skills, expect queries on the no. of districts in your state, names of ministers, governor or about a place of importance.

These questions need not necessarily test your knowledge but enables the interviewer to deduce your communication skills.

                  6. Know about the organization

Few questions on history, performance, awards or chairman/MD of the bank could be asked to gauge your level of preparation & interest in taking up the job.

Visit the bank`s website, look for a section ‘About us’ under which all the info ranging from mission, vision to previous year`s financial results will be available.

                  7. Know yourself

Now comes the real part, where you need to talk more. What could you be questioned on?

                  • What are your strengths & weaknesses?
                  • What is your biggest achievement?
                  • How can you be useful to our bank?

Answering these can get tough if you have not though about this in advance.

Responses like ‘My biggest strength is working hard’ & ‘Short temper is my weakness’ will only send wrong signals to the interviewing panel.Don't sound too vague or object of ridicule.

While officer post requires managerial & team building skills, clerical employees are required to have good customer handling capabilities.

Understand the job profile & frame answers that could bring these qualities to the fore.
