Sectional Review - Was that English?

To start with, the written tests were conducted in two slots – morning & noon/evening slot.As discussed earlier the question booklet contained 200 questions from 4 sections.

 

Most candidates seemed comfortable answering General awareness/computer & Data analysis questions.They called those sections as easy to moderate level

 

Reasoning is always known to take time & moreover the bank had already specified it as high level.Though the problems were on the tougher side, difficulty level was on expected lines.

 

English language turned out to be the surprise package for many.It did have questions from regularly asked topics but the standard was higher than normal SBI exams, said most candidates.

In trying to understand the question properly, they spent precious minutes which led to shortage of time for other sections.

Expected SBI PO 2013 Cutoffs

The written test is preceded by group discussion & personal interviews.It is required for candidates to secure minimum marks also called cutoffs to qualify for these stages.

 

SBI had advertised to shortlist 3 times the total number of vacancies of 1500 to participate in GD process.It means approx. 5000 candidates only will be required for next stages.(see previous year SBI cutoffs)

 

In such a scenario there are two possibilities

1. The min. pass mark in each section could be raised OR
2. SBI might introduce an additional cutoff on total marks similar to what IBPS follows for its common exams.

SBI PO Exam 2013 – How to Allot Time & Final Tips [Must Read]

The announcement that received huge attention among government job aspirants recently would be SBI PO recruitment 2013.To work in India`s largest public sector bank seem to have driven many to apply.With the SBI PO exam scheduled in the coming days, each applicant would want to make themselves suitable for that coveted job.

 

State Bank of India is to conduct its PO recruitment exam on April 28, 2013 (Sunday). This exercise is being held to fill 1500 scale-I officer vacancies across various branches of SBI.

 

Since 17 lakh applications have been received, the competition is expected to reach greater heights.Hence we have compiled certain tips about the written test for you to remember & excel.

 

Know the Pattern:

This is a competitive exam for bank jobs & it is necessary for you to understand the test structure.Many would have already referred them while preparing but go through it for one last time patiently.

 

As candidates are required to secure minimum marks in all sections of the objective test, devise a plan beforehand.Decide which part can fetch you more marks, which requires more time etc.,

 

Time Allocation:

One may have prepared well but without proper time management, everything shall go in vain.The maximum allotted time for SBI PO exam 2013 is,

• Objective Test – 2 hours
• Descriptive test  – 60 minutes

There are 4 tests to complete under objective part with 200 questions in total. If you are confused on how to complete all of them in 120 mins, here is our simple suggestion:

We have given a max of 40 minutes for reasoning as it would require you to apply formulas & perform calculations.

The faster you complete General awareness & English lang. papers, the better it is for remaining sections.Start from a section that you are hopeful of answering & allot more time for the one that requires thinking.

Make sure to save time at the end say atleast 10 mins to check or answer leftover/ skipped questions.

 

Things to Note:

Apart from completing the exam on time, there are other important points related to this SBI PO Exam 2013 as well.You need to keep these following rules also in mind

• Carry your call letter with recent passport size photo pasted in the space provided along with original & copy of ID proof.
• Those entering the venue without call letters will not be permitted to write the exam.
• This is not an online test.Hence bring a ball point to fill your details in the question booklet & HB pencils for shading the correct answer.An eraser & a sharpener would also be required.
• Each wrong answer will fetch you 0.25 negative mark.Hence choose an option only if you are sure.(read how to minimize negative marks by guessing)
• Rough work are to be done on the question booklet which should be submitted to the invigilator.
• Do not spend too much time on one question.Continue with others & return at the end to answer it.
• Calculators, Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices are not allowed inside the examination hall.Don't try to sneak in with these & get disqualified.

17 Lakh Apply for 1500 SBI PO Jobs; 4500 To Get Interview Call

State Bank of India commands a name which no other public sector bank carries.This factor seems to have come into play in the recent SBI PO recruitment 2013 bringing in 17 lakh applications.The Indian banking sector has been looking up for past couple of years even after the global economic turmoil.So is the reason for bank jobs turning hot favorite among young people.

 

An advertisement to fill 1500 probationary officer vacancies was released by State bank of India in January 2013.The last date to submit online applications closed on February 23rd.

 

How Many Have Applied?

With the written examination on April 28, SBI has inserted ads in all leading newspapers thanking applicants for registering & termed the response as ‘overwhelming’.

 

Although exact numbers were not revealed, the bank says that over 17 lakh applications have been received.

 

In addition to wishing registrants for the written test, the notice also informs candidates to download their call letters from SBI website starting April 8th.

Ever since common written exams (CWE) & interviews were introduced for jobs in 20 other public sector banks, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has been mandated to conduct recruitments (State bank group is not part of it) 

14 lakh registrations were recorded for the inaugural common test for PO`s in 2011.But IBPS CWE are held for 20 participating organisations whereas SBI stands separately.

4500 Only Required

Based on the average marks of qualifiers in objective & descriptive tests, categorywise listing shall be prepared upto 3 times the vacancies & they would be called for Group discussion & personal interviews, says SBI PO recruitment notification.

No.of Vacancies:

Probationary Officers - 1544 posts

 

The basic pay is Rs.16900 in the scale of Rs.14500-25700.For an officer posted in Mumbai, the monthly emoluments (including allowances & benefits) will be Rs.69000 (approx.)

 

No change in eligibility:

Applicants have a reason to feel happy here as State bank of India has not made any changes to its criteria.IBPS modified them recently following govts. recommendations.

 

So to apply for SBI PO recruitment 2013,

• Should have completed graduation in any discipline, as on Jan 1, 2013
• Age to be within 21 & 30 years

Since state bank group does not participate in IBPS common written test platform, registrants should appear for a separate written examination under Phase I.

 

It shall contain two major sections - objective & descriptive test for 250 marks.

 

Phase II is for those qualifying in the 1st exam.Based on the marks secured, atleast 4500 candidates could be called for Group discussion & Interview.The final selection shall be unveiled considering your scores in these two phases.

Fee Payment & Registering

Rs.200(others) or Rs.50(sc/st) should be on or before Feb 23 by visiting any SBI branch or online.

If you intend to pay fees at branch, it should be done from the 2nd day of registering online & within 3 days.

A confirmation email/sms shall also be sent after 3 days of depositing payment which marks the completion of registration.

 

In addition to this, recent photo of the applicant & signature must be scanned & uploaded along with the online application.

Q: Will all employees be paid Rs.29,500 in salary towards accommodation? A: No. The mentioned rental amount is only for Mumbai centre & differs for each location that starts from Rs.8000 in category ‘C’ centres.   Moreover it shall be paid directly to the landlord & no cash would be given to the employee.

 

Q: Explain about the SBI`s limit on chances

A: SBI has limited the number of chances for a candidate to apply for its recruitments. As per it,

 

For example, if a OBC candidate had appeared for 7 previous PO recruitments (from 18.04.2010) conducted by State Bank then he/she cannot apply now.

Q: I submitted my application form.When should i visit the bank to pay fees? A: For offline fee payments, a challan is generated once you submit the application form.
