Since the eligibility conditions and its method of application are similar, the below info can also be relevant for government & other competition exams.
Whatever be the job, the preliminary selection is done by looking at your marks in the recent exam (either degree or equivalent).Let us take an example,
A company invites applications for trainee posts from those who have completed degree with 65% only. Why?
There are two reasons for follow this method,
As far as bank jobs are concerned, the following sentence would find place in its notification:
Candidates with minimum educational qualification of a degree with 60% marks are eligible to send their applications.
It means that you must have either scored exactly or above 60% in degree exams.
In case you have scored 59.8% or 59.5% & thought of rounding it to the next whole number integer 60% – it is not possible.
So in the above scenario, 59.8% is less than 60% is still less than the required marks & hence the candidate is not eligible to apply.
In competition exams such as bank recruitments where every mark counts, allowing candidates to round-off decimal figures to integers would be unfair & wont be a level playing field, says a bank exams trainer.
Graduation score: Remember that your under graduate marks would only be considered for banking jobs & not your PG marks (see, UG marks preferred by banks)
Hope your doubts regarding calculation of marks for eligibility conditions would end here.

Hi Rahul,
You are right those stupid persons are really afraid of competition. So passing comments like this
'Beta',if u hv got 70%(in comparison to those failures, 59.9 % as u say) u shud have confidence in urself that u ll score bettr than those failures in future also and in any exam. Itna attitude dikha raha hai na 70% ka to dum rakh age bhi prove karne ka.
U r nt the one to decide who shud sit or who shud not.Keep ur options to urslf.
From ur posts, it seems u r afraid from 59.9 scorer, U FAILURE ,thats y u dnt want him to be considered.
hello 59.9 u r at 59.9 beta not at 99.9 ok, so dont create a mess here, its simple u r not elligible beta.
you have three options:
1. Go for other exam and show your worth that u r not failures.
2. Go back and do graduation again and study hard.
3. post more and more questions of enquiry on these websites and do your good time pass.
pleople like my comment plz appriciate
Guys just don't worry, whoever scored less than 60% in Graduation have better opportunity in private banks.
Let me tell you about my friend, who is not having 60% in graduation so he did MBA & after MBA joined in ICICI bank as an Ast. Manager & the salary was 3 Lakh CTC. more than that of Bank PO in public sector. Now After 5 years of experience he is working as a Manager in HSBC & the salary is 7 Lakh CTC.
So dont worry about the comments of those people who are in support of 60%.
In future the private banks will do more & better business than public sectors.
So Cheer up.
suganya, the minimum percentage should be in your recent degree. If you have completed PG,the marks of PG degree has to be taken.Since you have scored 56% in MBA, you are eligible.
sir, is the minimum percentage of 55% should be have EITHER in UG OR PG. i have scored 71% percentage in 12th and 49% percentage in B.Com. and 56% in MBA. will i eligible to appear the exam sir ...
excuse me......getting 59.9% marks doesn't mean failure...most f d exams ask just 4 55% marks...so u better don't try to demotivate oders n just concentrate on urself...
The percentage given on your certificate must be taken to apply for jobs.
Ihave obtained 60.5% in aggregate out of 1600 marks But my percentage decreases to 59.5% out of 1800 marks including ancilary & foundataion course which are just to qualify in exam. in our university. whether i am eligible to appear the bank po exam which require 60% in graduation.
59.9% means u r a failure.... dont even think about bank exams.... OK Beta.... please don't increase competition. these exams are made for us not for u . I would love govt to raise % cutoff in graduation why should a 59.9% candidate get a seat where student having 70% marks should sit..
