Update: SBI PO 2016 Recruitment to start from May 5, 2016
SBI PO Mains Exam New Pattern
With lakhs of applicants for few thousand jobs, SBI has a huge task of filtering the right candidates from a large talent pool.
For this purpose only, they came up with a two tier exam process last year, similar to UPSC (civil services) that included – Preliminary & Main exams.
Now even more fine tuning has been done to make sure only the worthy persons are shortlisted for PO (officer) jobs.
Hereafter, the SBI PO Mains will be held in the following structure:
- Objective Tests for 200 marks
- Fixed time limit for each section
- Descriptive paper for 25 marks
- Both tests to be online only.
The duration of objective tests has been increased to 3 hours & will consist of 4 sections for a total of 200 marks.
Each section will have a specific time limit, within which candidates must complete it.
Descriptive paper in english language shall be for 50 marks (30 minutes). It would contain questions such as letter writing & essay, that should also be answered on computer only.
This paper consists of letter writing & essay writing along with seperate cutoff scores for each category (see SBI PO descriptive test previous cutoffs & questions)
Your marks in descriptive test will also be taken for final selection. Therefore the total for SBI PO mains examination will be 250 marks.
SBI PO Preliminary Test Pattern – No Changes
The preliminary examination consists of objective tests in 3 sections for 100 marks. There is no change in the prelims test pattern.
The marks obtained in the preliminary exams (Phase-I) will not be added for final selection.
But it is necessary for candidates to qualify in the prelims to get shortlisted for the main examination which would be conducted on a separate date.
