A common recruitment process is conducted by the IBPS on behalf of 23 public sector banks in India. So if one wishes to join any of these banks as officer or clerk, they will have to enroll for a common test & interview that leads to appointment.
The demand for SBI jobs are so high that approx.18 lakh candidates applied for 1800 PO vacancies & 23 lakh registered for 5100 clerk posts held recently |
Probably this could be the reason for State Bank of India, the hot favorite among job seekers to take handle its manpower requirements needs on its own.
There are massive retirements happening across all govt. banks making it necessary to absorb new people in regular intervals.Since State bank is not part of the IBPS CWE process, they are facing heat over retiring officials.
SBI Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya in a recent interview to a newsdaily has
This large intake in one go poses a major challenge in imparting training & providing other arrangements for the new recruits.
“We will not do hiring in spurts. If there is a steady stream of people entering the organisation, it is that much easier to get them properly trained and on board. That is the way we will continue to hire,” she said.

The one common question that we come across regularly on this site is – ‘When is the next SBI recruitment?”
Unlike IBPS, which recently published its bank exam calendar 2015, nobody knows the exact month or date of either their new recruitment notifications or results of previously conducted exams.

If this happens, numerous candidates are sure to benefit. They could plan & start preparing accordingly.
Not only this, State bank of India is also looking to introduce more measures to attract & retain talent. Some of them include:
We are not sure about when these changes will come into effect. But since they have come directly from the Chairman of State bank group we can safely presume that they should be working on them.
And it could happen within an year, we believe as SBI cannot continue watching its vacancy list grow bigger.
